IDENTIFY Identify families in need of our services through partnering organizations We closely partner with local social service agencies to identify families in the greater Oklahoma City metro area who are ready for our services. Partnering agencies submit referral applications for families they know quality for our program. Each family selected for the program is on their own personal journey to a better life situation and have a documented history of working toward their goals with the agencies who refer them. Each family accepted into our program has found permanent housing and is able to maintain that housing. INTERVIEW Interview family to understand their specific needs. Each family in our program is assigned their own personal Family Coordinator. The Family Coordinator meets with the family to assess their specific needs. CREATE Create a customized furniture/furnishings package using gently used donated items. The Family Coordinator is now able to create a furniture/furnishings package specifically for the needs of this family. The Focus on Home warehouse is stocked with the majority of all the items needed to fulfill the needs of the family. The items in the warehouse are gently used donations from the Oklahoma City community. In addition to the donated items, each family is allocated $500 that goes towards new items to fill gaps in our donations (like cribs and new pillows) – each family member also receives a brand new bed. MOVE-IN Set up a family’s home on their “Move-In Day” with a group of volunteers. It’s Move-In Day – the day it all comes together! Volunteers work with the Family Coordinator and the family to set up the new home. It’s an exciting, fun, emotional day – in a few hours our volunteers see how their time and energy completely transforms the life of an Oklahoma City family. Not only does a comfortable, dignified home emerge from various donated item; but our volunteers see how the process of creating a home environment completely transforms the overall well being of the family they are working with. OUR MISSION The Dragonfly Home walks alongside victim-survivors of human trafficking on their path to freedom and restoration. What does that mean? Freedom and restoration are words with a lot of meaning, and it looks different for each person. It looks like meeting each person exactly where they’re at on their personal path after exiting human trafficking. It looks like offering support and services to help a person find physical recovery from the abuse of trafficking. It looks like offering voluntary, trauma-focused mental healthcare as a way to help a person courageously work through the trauma they experienced. It looks helping someone navigate the barriers they face as they take steps to start over again. It looks like believing in each person’s unique strengths and supporting them as they choose goals for the life they want to build. THE PEOPLE WE SERVE When a person escapes from human trafficking, their journey to a future of freedom—physical, psychological, and emotional—is just beginning. In addition to experiencing brutal violence and psychological control from traffickers and the people who exploit them, victim-survivors of trafficking also know what it’s like to be treated like a product for sale instead of a human being. Those who experience human trafficking each have a different story, but each person walks in incredible courage, compassion, and resilience every single day. Dragonfly meets victim-survivors of human trafficking, including sex trafficking and labor trafficking, with compassion and empathy, working with each person as an individual in charge of their own healing journey. No judgment. No strings attached. We serve all genders, American citizens and foreign nationals, ages 15 and up. We also serve children and family members of people who come to Dragonfly. The only qualification for our services is that someone has experienced a form of human trafficking. We offer all services free of charge at Dragonfly, regardless of a person’s income. We strongly believe in the power of a warm, inviting, homey environment as the best place to recover! Hi, I’m Tiffany! I grew up learning to bake in my grandma’s kitchen, where there was always a pan of cake on the counter. With nearly every trip through the kitchen, we’d stop, grab a fork, and get a taste. I grew up with my grandma, and she showed me the way around a kitchen. While I wouldn’t say I use her recipes, per se, I definitely use her processes. 2012: YUKON BAKERY OPENS. A few short years later, we had severely outgrown our home kitchen. We took the leap, and opened our first brick-and-mortar storefront called ButterSweet Cakes. Custom cakes were the primary focus, but we also sold our recipes in the form of cupcakes. As fate would have it, cupcakes exploded in popularity and eventually became the majority of the business. 2015: EDMOND BAKERY OPENS. With things in Yukon going so well, we decided to take another big leap and open a second cupcake bakery, this time on the west side of Edmond. We opened in July of 2015 with crowds waiting. 2018: COFFEE BAR OPENS. With such a strong cupcake following, we decided it was time to pair them with great coffee. In June, the Motion Coffee bar at ButterSweet Yukon opens. Dr. Tina Neel - Owner & Chief of Staff Dr. Neel founded Neel Veterinary Hospital three decades ago and is entering her 41st year of practicing veterinary medicine. Beginning as a mobile DVM, this experience gave Dr. Neel a unique chance to travel to the homes of some of her long-time clients, who still bring their pets to our hospital today. She then bought a tiny building just to the south of our current location to begin building her practice and treating even more pets with the ultimate goal of helping the animals live long lives as comfortable and pain-free as possible. In 2000, she was able to purchase the land that our hospital currently sits on to begin building the NVH you know today. With the hospital opening that year, it was clear that Oklahoma City was in need of a 24 veterinary facility so Dr. Neel made the decision to remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since May 2000. This made NVH the first 24 hour hospital in the state of Oklahoma. In 2005, an addition was added, doubling the size of the hospital to 14,000 sqft. Dr. Neel brings a love of technology and learning to the practice that fosters continuous growth with Gold Standard Medicine. Dr. Neel is a current member of Neel Veterinary Hospital Small Animal Rotating Internship Selection Committee. Proudly, Dr. Neel served on the Admissions Committee for students into the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine from 2009-2011. Dr. Neel currently focuses on Ultrasound - both Abdominal and Cardiac - and is available to do those procedures 7 days a week. When not at NVH, she loves to sew and spend time with her family, particularly her 3 grand daughters. Dr. Neel was the winner of the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award, OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences Featured Speaking Engagements: American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) - Served on the Electronic Health Records Task Force to set standards for and promote the use of electronic medical records in veterinary practice. In 1962, Al Muzny started our company with a single wrecker and a small Texaco gas station. With a handful of employees, he worked hard to forge strong bonds with customers through mutual respect, and consistently exceeded their expectations. In 1969, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission issued its first tow truck license to Al Muzny: Certificate No. 0001. Twenty years later, we reached a significant milestone when we were awarded a contract with the City of Oklahoma City for towing operations in the Northwest quadrant. At that time, we moved the offices and yard to their present location on North Villa Avenue. We have expanded the yard several times since then and can now accommodate more cars than any other towing company in the area. We learned early on that meeting the expectations of our customers would be the key to our success. We developed quality customer service, reasonable prices, and prompt pickup and delivery of towed vehicles. More than 55 years have passed since our humble beginnings in 1962. Hi, My name is Bella Delgado, and I am the owner and baker of Que Bella Bakery. I have always been passionate about food and had dreams of owning my own bakery. At fourteen I found out I was gluten intolerant. I thought the dream of baking full time was over. I began eating gluten-free and realized while many people are also gluten-free, there are not many gluten-free options out there. I went back to the kitchen, tested recipes, tested gluten-free flour, and began baking gluten-free treats. Finally, I had delicious gluten-free treats.
